Shoe Storage Bench and Basketball

August 19th, 2009

I keep a shoe storage bench in my bedroom, right at the foot of my bed. It is usually my first stop whenever I get home from work, from hanging out with my friends, from my runs, or from wherever outside the house.

Once I am in I just plop myself on its cushioned seat, a Moroccan brown leather with a thick foam within. When I purchased this I thought of getting the one with the fiber upholstery but I figured there would be times when I would come home sweaty from my runs and I wouldn’t want it to absorb my sweat. With the leather, all I need to do is wipe my sweat off. Anyway, the leather looks elegant and is a great match to the matte black finish of the cabinet.

As soon as I’m seated I simply unlace and kick off my shoes. Sometimes I just sit on the bench massaging the soles of my tired feet. I don’t worry about it breaking down because it is supported with a solid wood frame. And while I am at it, I just slide the doors open and deposit my shoes in there, waiting for me to pull them out again. I take out another pair of footwear, my moccasins or flip flops depending on what I want to do next. And then I take my socks off, roll them into a ball, and shoot them, like a basketball, into my laundry basket.

Buying an Individual Health Insurance

August 12th, 2009

As a rule, an individual health insurance is more expensive, more difficult to obtain, and even offer less favorable coverage than a group insurance policy. However, there are instances when a person may be ineligible for such a group policy. Employers usually provide the benefit of a free or discounted group insurance policy only to their full-time employees, so that if you work only part-time, you will have no option but to buy your own. Freelance workers, such as writers and web designers, also do not enjoy this benefit.

An individual policy, however, is better than having no health insurance to fall back on in times of illness. With increasing medical costs, an illness could easily deplete your resources.

Your first move should consist in a search for independent insurance agents. Since they represent not just a single company, they are in a position to offer different policies with different coverage and prices. They are usually required to register with the department of insurance in your state, making it easy to verify if they are legitimate.

Alternatively, you can visit websites that present comparisons of the products of various insurance companies. Their features, coverage, and prices are posted side-by-side allowing you to study and compare them with each other.

After this study, you can decide which policy suits your particular needs.
